Go 4th Domestic Violence – Free Talk given by MK ACT Charity, hosted at All Saints Church, Milton Keynes Village

By | Free Talk, Monthly updates, November 2018 | No Comments

To commemorate the International Day for the Ending of Violence Against Women, we hosted a very engaging and thought-provoking talk given to us by an exceptional speaker who volunteers for MK-Act, the women’s refuge.  About 25 people came and learnt a lot about the great challenge of domestic abuse in MK, how we can help spot it and how we can support those affected by it.  Donations to MK-Act totalled £100 and many bought white ribbons to show their support.  We hope this will be the first of several talks about important issues hosted by All Saints over the winter months.  The events are open to all in the community and are always free of charge.

GO 4th Leading a Service at a Local Care Home in Milton Keynes http://www.go4th.org.uk

Due to Father Keith Straughan being incapacitated and stranded in Dubai, David and Pat Sawyer led the Service at the local Care Home. Our arrival, being a little early, was timely as one of the residents having sadly just died, David was able to share prayers with the family and Administer a form of Last Rites.

It was a joy to see 22 residents gathered in the sitting room for their Sunday Morning Service. This month being the last Sunday of the Church Year and preceding the first Sunday of Advent, we centred our thoughts on the Feast of Christ the King. There was time for favourite hymns and anticipation of the Advent season and we shared Holy Communion together. Warm wishes are sent by all to Father Keith for his recovery.

A bulk bag of stones was delivered to the hall prior to the weekend and Julie, the Hall Manager arranged for some of it to be emptied into the trench during Saturday.

The remaining stones were emptied into the trench on Sunday by our Go4th team.

Julie had previously mentioned another task for Go4th to dig out an area adjacent to the new litter bin by the car park and relocate it closer to the shrubs. We got that done too.
